Jacqui Armbruster is a dynamic violist, singer/songwriter, and improviser from Allentown, PA. She received her BM from Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of Kirsten Docter and is currently pursuing Masters Degrees in Viola Performance and Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory with Nicholas Cords. Through her various musical outlets, Armbruster has studied under and collaborated with a wide range of artists including Donald Weilerstein, Diane Monroe, The Dali Quartet, Leo Genovese, Chico Pinheiro, Weedie Braimah, Layth Sidiq, Becca Stevens, and Arun Ramamurthy. She was the recipient of the Theodore Presser Undergraduate Award in 2021 for her "high academic and musical accomplishments, leadership, and citizenship." Outside of academia, Armbruster leads her band The Witherbees, who released their second album, love letter, in June of 2021. In her free time, she is a devout plant mom and passionate consumer of coffee. 


Jacqui plays on a Douglas Cox viola on generous loan from the Virtu Foundation.
