Biography:

 

A native of the Chicago area, Kevin Kunkel started his musical studies at the age of ten. Kunkel received a bachelor’s degree and performance diploma from Indiana University studying with Eric Kim. At IU, he annually served as a principal cellist and was a member of the scholarship Kuttner Quartet. He has performed chamber music in concert with members of Eighth Blackbird, the Silk Road Ensemble, Yo-Yo Ma, Arthur Fagen, Eric Kim, Jorja Fleezanis, Christian Tetzlaff, Atar Arad, and Tamas Varga. Additionally, he has performed throughout the US and Europe with institutions such as the New York String Orchestra Seminar, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, and Verbier Festival. He has studied chamber music with members of the Cleveland, Johannes, Orion, Pro Arte, Pacifica, Ying, Guarneri, and Vermeer quartets. Kunkel is currently living in Miami Beach as fellow with the New World Symphony where he has the privilege of working with some of the world’s finest conductors and soloists.
