Caleb Newell

Biography:
Caleb Newell is a violinist who began playing the instrument at the age of 12. He received his initial instruction from Ian Jesse and has since gone on to perform with numerous orchestras and ensembles. Caleb has played with the West Virginia Youth Orchestra, the WV State Philharmonic Orchestra, and the WVYSO Performance Quartet. He has performed at various venues, including weddings, art exhibits, nursing homes, and other gigs, with the WVYSO Performance Quartet.
As a soloist, Caleb has had the opportunity to showcase his skill as concertmaster with the Children's Theatre of Charleston in their production of The Wizard of Oz in March of 2023. He was also the runner-up in the WVYSO concerto competition in 2022 and 2023, allowing him to perform his concertos at the WVYSO Chamber Concert.
Caleb has had the privilege of attending master classes with several accomplished violinists, including Tessa Lark, Charles Morey, Christina Bouey, Christine Harada Li, Dr. Wanchi Huang, Rachel Barton Pine, Peter Salaff, Mari Sato, and Daniel Phillips. Currently, he is studying under the tutelage of Professor Mary Grace Johnson at West Virginia University for his BM in music performance.
