Biography:

 

Zhihao Wu began his cello studies with Professor Meijuan Liu at age four and made his concerto debut in Shanghai Grand Theatre with Shanghai Youths Symphony Orchestra at age nine, played Haydn Cello Concerto in C Major. In 2005 he was admitted to the elementary music school affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music and promoted into the music middle school in 2008.

He has won several top prizes including, the 1st prize of the 6th International Cello Competition “Antonio Janigro” for Cellists under 20 in Croatia, the 2nd pize of MTNA competition in young Artist category in 2016, the 2nd prize and the excellence China’s work award of the 6th VC National Professional Cello Competition for Young Cellists in China, the 1st prize of String Quartet in Shanghai Chamber Music Competition in China, as a MBQ member, and the 1st prize of the etudes competition and the 3rd prize of the chamber music competition in the Morningside Music Bridge program in Canada. Besides, he has been awarded a lot of kinds of scholarships, such as, Tang-Junyuan education foundation, the 16th and 19th Fu-Chengxian foundation, Shanghai Art Talents foundation, Shanghai “Star Plan” excellent student, Stuart Holland Memorial Award, and so on.

He has been guided by several famous cello masters including Lynn Harrell, Laurence Lesser, Laszlo Mezo, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Frans Helmerson, Jian Wang, David Geber, Andres Diaz, etc. In additions, from 2008 to 2013, he has been admitted to the Morningside Music Bridge summer music camps in Canada for four times. He also gained the full scholarship to take part in the summer music sessions of Meadowmount music school in USA in 2012 and 2015, studying with Professor Hans Jorgen Jensen. He was the teaching Assistant of Mr. Jessen at Meadowmount in 2015. Currently, he is studying with Julie Albers and Hans Jorgen Jensen at Mercer University, McDuffie Center for Strings.
