Biography:

Anita Dumar is going into her junior year at the University of Michigan School of Music studying violin under the excellent tutelage of Professor Danielle Belen.  She comes from Oklahoma, where she studied under OKC Phil concertmaster and Michigan alum Dr. Gregory Lee, and won several awards, including being the winner of the Violin division as well as Overall Strings in the statewide OKC Music Olympics Buttram competition.  She also has soloed with multiple youth orchestras, her final high school performance being with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, after winning their concerto competition.  As a freshman in college, her debut performance was as a winner of the Ann Arbor Camerata Competition, granting her the opportunity to solo with their orchestra.   Anita actively participates in many musical organizations, gigs, events, and concerts- both at U of M and elsewhere.   In February of 2016, she was a member of the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra for their annual Sphinx Competition Finals Concert.  Anita plays on a 1900 Bailley violin provided by a scholarship grant from the Virtu Foundation.  Music is her passion, and she plans to continue on to a Masters, and hopefully a Doctoral degree eventually, and grasp every musical opportunity granted her along the way.
