Biography:

 

Alaistair Witherspoon began the study of the viola at the age of seven with David France and Aaron Janse and added the violin into his studies when he was eleven and has studied with Lucia May. He continues to play both violin and viola. Alaistair has received scholarship grants from the Schubert Club that were used to attend the Bravo String and Keyboard Institute at the University of Minnesota. He is currently a junior in high school. His musical experiences include: Orchestra Hall Pre-Concert 2010, Master-class with the Calder String Quartet, Master-class with Robert Mann, Schubert Club Competition Preliminary Round 2012, Minnesota Competition Givens Prize 2012 and Performance Awards 2009 and 2011, Bravo! String and Keyboard Camp 2004-2013. In the fall of 2013 he will enter the PSEO program at the University of Minnesota to study violin with Sally O’Reilly.
