Miao Li
MIAO LI, violin, began her violin studies at the age of seven in Nanjing, China and was the winner of numerous competitions in China. She was the winner of the Starling Violin Scholarship Competition at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in 2002 and 2004. As the winner of the 2004 CCM Violin Competition, she appeared with the CCM Concert Orchestra performing Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major. As an active chamber musician, Miao performed with Siddhartha Piano Quartet and performs with The Eden Project, a new music group based in Greater Cincinnati area that aims to introduce contemporary music to audiences in a non-intimidating way. Miao’s piano quartet won the 2005 CCM Chamber Music Competition and was given the chance to perform Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time in May of 2005. During 2006-07 Ms. Li served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Prof. Kurt Sassmannshaus and String Chamber Music Program Coordinator at CCM. Currently, Ms. Li is finishing her DMA in violin performance at CCM and teaches private lessons and group strings classes at the Northern Kentucky University Music Preparatory Department and the Slater Music Academy in Kentucky. Ms. Li received her BM from the State University of New York at Purchase and MM from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. In 2003, Ms. Li was a winner of the Virtu Foundation Instrument Scholarship and plays on an 1853 French violin by Charles Adolphe Maucotel.
