Filip Fenrych
Filip began playing the violin at the age of six in Poland. His concerto debut at the age of fourteen took place in Germany. Winner of numerous competitions, he has performed in France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland and the United States. He was awarded a full tuition scholarship at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and later at Oberlin College Conservatory in Ohio where he studied with Almita and Roland Vamos. There, he founded the Massanetto String Quartet which was awarded a week-long residency in Washington, D.C. During that time Filip performed on the famous “Ole Bull” Stradivarius violin from the Smithsonian Institution. He completed his Bachelor studies at the University of North Texas under Julia Bushkova, where he served as Concertmaster of Symphony, Chamber and Opera orchestras as well as holding the position of Principal Second violin with the Piano Symphony Orchestra. He has won the North Texas Violin Concerto with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto as well as the Entergy Young Artists Competition in Texas and the Crescendo Music Awards Competition in Oklahoma. An enthusiastic chamber music performer, Filip took part in the Taos School of Music in New Mexico, Music Academy of the West, in California, International School of Music Arts, in Canada, Perche International Chamber Music Festival, in Italy, and Interlochen Camp, in Michigan. He will be a featured guest artist with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra in 2008. Filip received a violin instrument Scholarship from the Virtu Foundation
